Plants in Grinnell: A Guide for Connecting with the Earth was written by Mariposa Condron ’27. Condron, an anthropology major, is active in the Grinnell gardening community, including the College Garden.
Condron writes, “This project is the culmination of my summer research with Professor Carolyn Herbst of the Grinnell College Gender, Women, and Sexuality Studies Department. I have been working as her research assistant as she gathers sources for her book and memoir on sacred healing journeys. My research has focused on how relationships with nature and the Earth are important and helpful in the healing process.”
Plants in Grinnell: A Guide for Connecting with the Earth offers an overview to the healing benefits of nature and gardening, and then offers practical advice on how to get started with gardening, foraging, and using plants as medicine.
